In 2012, our lives changed forever. After spending years living the "California Dream" in the endlessly congested concrete jungles, we packed up in hopes of finding a more enriching lifestyle. Thinking we settled on the property of our dreams, our new home proved to be quite a fixer upper. While touring the property, we remember sitting on the knee high weed infested front lawned bursting with excitement knowing full well that this was truly where we belonged. We spent the following years painfully shaping our new home into the sustainable micro-farm is it today. From naturally raising free range animals to planting an orchard to building structures and ponds, we fixed up our fixer upper, and began to forget about life before our little homestead. Animals. Animals tend to be one of the more interesting or eye catching topics, because, they are not only cute, but take a decent amount of work to properly care for. Trust me, we have bought our fair share of books and read our fair share of "oh my goodness what should I do" articles, but, this is not one of those. This is a fun article about the animals we have, and cherish more than anything. Although we have owned and raised a plethora of animals, we wanted to share who is currently on our farm. Our house is occupied by an assortment of chickens, Desert Painted Mouflon sheep, two cows, two KuneKune pigs, two cats, and three dogs. A personal mission of mine is to not only humanly raise my animals, but to also pasture graze and free range my critters. There is nothing that makes us happier then looking out the window to see all our animals frolicking in the yard to their heart's desires.
